Role Overview
The Project Delivery Lead is responsible for ensuring our projects, builds and installs are delivered smoothly, profitably and predictably, even when the work itself is complex and fast-moving. This role is about more than organisation. It requires adaptability, sound judgement and a solutions-driven mindset — someone who can bring structure without stifling creativity, and who is comfortable working in an environment where ideas evolve and challenges are solved collaboratively.
You will provide clear delivery leadership working alongside production teams in Joinery, Print, Logistics and Install and closely with design and client services teams to turn creative ambition into well-executed reality.
Reports to: General Manager
Direct reports: Project Manager
What It’s Like to Be a Project Delivery Lead at MAD Colour
This role sits at the heart of how MAD Colour shows up for its clients and for each other.
As Project Delivery Lead, your days are varied, fast-moving and deeply people-focused. You’ll move between planning conversations, problem-solving on the floor, creative discussions with design, and practical decision-making with production, logistics and install teams. You’ll work closely with the Project Manager as a delivery partnership — setting direction, supporting decisions and creating the conditions for calm, confident delivery.
You’ll be trusted to lead when things are complex. That might mean helping a team rethink an approach, balancing creativity with feasibility, or stepping in to remove obstacles so others can do their best work. Your leadership style will shape how project delivery feels at MAD Colour — clear, collaborative and supportive rather than reactive or pressured.
What makes this role rewarding is seeing ideas turn into reality through teamwork. You’ll be there when projects come together, when installs land successfully, and when teams step back proud of what they’ve built. The work you lead will represent the MAD Colour brand — and the way it’s delivered will inspire confidence, trust and repeat business.
If you care about people, enjoy leading through influence, and take real pride in delivering work that others want to talk about, this role offers challenge, visibility and genuine satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities
Delivery & Resource Management
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of projects, builds and installs — from confirmed brief through to successful on-site completion.
- Work collaboratively with production teams to plan resources realistically, protecting capacity while enabling creative solutions.
- Maintain delivery schedules while responding intelligently to change, balancing deadlines, quality and feasibility.
- Act as a calm escalation point when pressure builds, helping teams navigate challenges constructively.
Financial Oversight & Commercial Awareness
- Provide clear visibility of project costs, ensuring delivery decisions are commercially sound.
- Maintain practical cost tracking across labour, materials, subcontractors and delivery overheads.
- Review and manage change requests with a solutions-focused mindset, protecting margin while supporting client relationships.
- Help complete the business journey from reactive fixes to informed, forward-looking delivery decisions.
Planning, Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Lead weekly delivery planning meetings and focused stand-ups during critical delivery periods.
- Develop KPIs as insight tools — not just controls — to improve planning accuracy, quality and predictability.
- Introduce and refine delivery gates, escalation routes and ways of working that support clarity without bureaucracy.
- Learn from each project and help embed better ways of working across teams.
Team Leadership & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Line manage and support the Project Manager, providing clarity, coaching and confidence.
- Build strong, respectful relationships across production, logistics and install teams.
- Work in close partnership with design and client services, enabling them to focus on ideas, visuals and client experience, knowing delivery is in safe hands.
- Act as a connector — aligning people, priorities and pace across the business.
Skills & Experience Required
- Experience leading complex, multi-disciplinary project delivery, ideally within print, display, exhibitions, media & film production, fit-out or event environments.
- A strong commercial mindset, with an understanding of cost control and delivery trade-offs.
- Highly organised but also adaptable — comfortable working with evolving briefs and creative nuance.
- Confident influencing others and resolving conflict through collaboration rather than authority alone.
- Clear communicator with the presence to work credibly across directors, creative teams and production teams.
What Success Looks Like
- Projects delivered seamlessly and on time, with proactive planning not short-term heroics.
- Production teams feel confident and fully prepared.
- Creative teams feel empowered and supported to deliver their best work.
- Delivery feels smooth, clear and consistently predictable.
