One of the largest and most complex projects delivered by MAD Colour at Balmoral Show was the Northern Ireland Government Departments and Agencies exhibition, coordinated by DAERA’s Marketing and External Stakeholder Engagement Branch.
This was not a single stand with a single message.
It was a major multi-department exhibition space of approximately 38m x 25m, bringing together a wide range of government departments, agencies and public bodies, including DAERA services, the Public Health Agency, Housing Executive, NISRA, Tourism NI, Safefood and the Food Standards Agency.
The challenge was to help each participating department or agency retain its own identity, while still creating one coherent, professional and accessible government presence.
That required much more than production.
The space had to be eye-catching, open, professional and progressive. It had to support public engagement, interactivity, clear navigation and efficient visitor flow. It also had to prevent bottlenecks and remain flexible enough to accommodate multiple messages, teams and audience needs.

- Creative design
- Print and large-format graphics
- Signage
- Stand build
- Branded zones
- Wayfinding
- Interactive areas
- Internal and external graphics
- Digital screen integration
- Installation
- Project management
The exhibition also included a wide range of practical requirements, from graphic display panels and lockable plinths to digital screens, literature dispensers, competition boxes, hospitality areas, office space, meeting room provision, storage and staff-only areas.
Every element had to work on its own — and as part of the wider visitor experience.
A project of this scale requires careful coordination across multiple stakeholders, artwork streams, technical requirements, deadlines, production teams, installers and event organisers.
For DAERA and the participating bodies, the result was a large-scale government exhibition environment that felt clear, connected and professional.
For visitors, it created a space that was accessible, engaging and easy to move through.
For MAD Colour, it demonstrated what large-scale event delivery is really about: bringing strategy, design, production and installation together to create a brand environment that works.
